Popular Plants For Your Garden

There are so many different plants that you can choose for your garden, although some plants are easier to grow and maintain than others. Perennials are plants that will typically last for years, even in all different types of climates. Plants that last for one season are called annuals. Keep that in mind before you purchase a plant to bring home and plant. As well, always read the information label to be certain that it will grow in the area you have in mind.

A popular plant that originated in Mexico is called zinnias. Zinnias are a flowering plant that generally come in either orange, yellow, red or purple. This flower does well in full sun and grows anywhere from six inches to three feet tall. Another flowering plant that is also an annual are marigolds. Marigolds look a lot like carnations except they are mostly orange, yellow or burgundy. Marigolds are very easy to maintain and even do well in flower boxes or pots.

Plants that are called bulbs are very popular among many gardeners. With bulbs, once they are planted, they will continue to come up year after year. Tulips are a great choice. Tulips need to be planted in clumps of at least 10 and do well along the borders of flower beds. Daffodils are yet another popular bulb plant. Like tulips, they come up in early spring and also like a sunny location along the edge of flower beds. Once these bulbs run their course, they will die off, making room for an annual to be planted in their place.
