Seasonal plants for the garden are often hard to plan. A gardener wants something blooming in the garden in every season, and also wants to have something to cut and put in vases for the family table. The winter is the time to plan for the next blooming season. If a person wants color in the spring, then plant azaleas in all colors. If a person wants an accent plant, then plant white azalea to highlight the other blooming flowers. White will set off and make the other colors more brilliant.
The summer has so many varieties of blooming flowers that a person needs a good book on annuals and perennials. A good gardener has also to take into consideration the part of the country, the severity of the winter, the texture of the soil and the available sun and shade areas before choosing plants for the garden.
Seasonal plants for the garden should include pansies and mums for fall, and impatiens, verbena, and geraniums for the spring and summer. In the spring, make sure a garden has bulbs that bloom in the early spring. For example, the many different colors of daffodils and the different shades of purple in the spring irises put brilliance in the garden after winter calms. The summer season also produces daisies, snapdragons and petunias in many colors. A gardener is like an artist and his pallet is the nooks and crannies of his yard.
