Tips on Building Your Garden the Right Way

Spring is here. It’s time to get your garden started. There are a few basics in building your garden the right way. You don’t want to just go out and throw a bunch of seeds around. You want to plan it out so you have a beautiful, well organized yard.

You can start with a small garden area. Decide where you want your garden and what you want to put in it. Then dig up the area you want to plant your garden in. Take a PH test of the soil to make sure it has the right components to grow your plants. You made need to add some nitrates or lime to the soil.

After you have made sure the area is free of debris and weeds, add your compost and organic fertilizer and mix them in well. Now you are ready to plant your seeds or seedlings. Make sure you read your packages or get the proper planting information from your farm or garden store. Space the plants out appropriately and plant them deep enough.

If you want to make sure you keep pests under control, add some eco friendly insects like lady bugs and wasps. Adding some pepper around your plant, or plant some garlic around your prize plants. Garlic will repel mosquitoes, aphids and spiders. Lavender will repel mice and attract butterflies.

Now that you have your garden growing you need to keep it going. Be sure to weed it when necessary, trim and prune any dead leaves or branches to encourage new growth and water but don’t drown your plants.
