Gardening

The best advice for starting a new garden is to start small. If you are an experienced gardener, there may still be some tips that you could learn to create a beautiful garden.

The most common gardening problem is poor soil. So the first step to starting a garden for you would be to get some good soil. Good soil has the perfect level of PH and nutrients as well as cohesiveness, or soil particle size. The three most important nutrients are potassium, phosphorus and nitrogen. Nitrogen is responsible for healthy leaf and stem growth. It can easily wash out of the soil or get soaked up by the plant. Certain bacteria called nitrogen fixing bacteria will change the nitrogen into nitrates, which is a form that the plant will be able to use. However, it is not good to have too much. Phosphorus is used for root and flower growth. Potassium is used for the plants' overall health and immunity.

Maintenance is a big part of the gardening after the plant is planted. Experienced gardeners can maintain their flowers by using a trick called deadheading. Deadheading is removing the dead flowers so they don't turn into seeds. This saves the plant energy and lets it bloom again.

As for the design of the garden, color is very important. Try to match colors with other colors to make the perfect garden. Other than that, the design should be up to you and what plants you think goes best with your home.
