Plants need water just like you do. If your plants are drooping during the day and night, water them. Do not just water them, give them deep watering. What is deep watering? Deep watering is when the water reaches the lowest and deepest roots. It is necessary to water your plants deep enough that your water does not go to waste. Just watering the top inch or two may not help the plants at all. Check if the soil is damp after you water at the roots of your plant. Just dig a small hole and check if the water has reached the roots of the plants.
Mulch and compost will keep your plants moist longer. A coating of mulch around your plants, or in the garden, will insure the moisture will stay in the garden. Soaker hoses and drip type irrigation is the most efficient in flower and vegetable gardens.
Speaking of irrigation systems, you should invest in one for any garden. If you are not sure of what you need, call a professional. You could be making a big mistake by guessing. You want the water waste to be very minimal. If you guess, you could be watering too much or not enough. Every year have a professional company inspect, repair and/or adjust your system. Have an automatic rain shutoff installed to keep from over watering or wasting your water. An irrigation system is either wonderful or terrible. You always need to have it inspected, so buy a professional.
There are many other things to talk about when discussing watering your garden or plants. When to and when not to water are key things to understand. Also, should you use fertilizer or not. Get your professional to help you on all of your questions and research them on the internet.
